Our Mission

We believe language is our most fundamental tool and poetry is its most sophisticated aspiration. As language is the very fabric of our human experience, and poetry further self-identifies as only Entertainment or Academic Pursuit, Americans are forgetting their kinship with the art. Poetry is the great revealer. At Destructible Heart we believe the right words can changes lives. Since 1857, we have set out to publish work that explores the fields inside us, and returns, though perhaps never fully.
