Step 1 If you don’t already have one, find yourself an editor. Trust your editor to give honest and constructive feedback. If a few months go by and you don’t notice a positive change in your manuscript (and by extension, your writing), consider a new one. Step 2 Read a few of our books. Getting a feel for our tastes and aesthetics is the best way to gauge your chances of an acceptance letter. Step 3 We work primarily digitally. In most cases, this reduces your expense. When you’re ready, prepare a manuscript of no more than 25 8.5” x 11” pages into one MS Word (.doc) or Acrobat (.pdf) document. If neither of these is available, send as a Text (.txt) or Rich Text (.rtf) document. Please number and place your last name in the top right corner of each page. Spell-check and have your editor spell-check. Make sure everything, including punctuation, is as you want it. Step 4 Please include a short cover-letter with relevant and interesting information. Cookie-cutter letters will dramatically reduce our interest in you. A little humor, a little color, goes a long way. Please title your file like this: “Last Name - Manuscript Title.doc.” Step 5 Attach your fully edited manuscript and cover letter in an email to submit@destructibleheart.com. We will notify you as soon as we have received your submission. Our average response time is four to six weeks. At this time there is no submission fee. We cannot accept more than one submission from any one poet in any 12-month period. We publish without respect to publishing credits. Thank you for submitting! |
